Is Legal Graffiti Actually Graffiti?You've got to admit that the Graff world is split up in many ways. Toys/Kings, Taggers/Piecers, Open Spots/Safe Spots.
These are black and white areas. Your still a graff artist if you do all those^. But with legal and illegal art the question still remains are you a graffiti artist if you only do legal art. The world champ competitions name crews as the best in the world but they are only legal crews or else they would get arrested when they competed. eg. Askew is named the best at handstyles in the world when really he isn't because only a certain amount of people competed.
Graffiti is non-consentual. Yet these artist's are still considered graf artists because they use the same conventions. Maybe in a few years you will be considered a graf artist when you scribble on paper. Non-Consentual Markings = Graffiti. It doesn't make sense to name a artist the best in the world at something when they don't even do it.
Graffiti and its world is owned by the people who do it. Their opinions are critical and decide everything. So I'm asking you on DA (The graffiti artists on DA) what you think, no offence but most of you are stay at home graffers, so I won't be surprised by biased comments.
